Tutor Eileen Marsh returns to Hylands and brings us a short flower arranging course to give some ideas of how to use our lovely spring flowers in your home. Beginners very welcome, as are those who would like to develop their existing skills.

5 week course on Tuesdays;

Join tutor Frances Fitzgerald to make something you can wear using your own choice of threads. Suitable for beginners and improvers this workshop will allow you to create a unique piece of adornment.
Canvas will be provided and some threads if required. Bring your own favourite Perle threads or choose from Francis’ collection. Canvas will be provided.
3 week course on Fridays;

Will you witness the spooky goings-on after dark at Hylands? In small, intimate groups, under the cover of darkness, enjoy a personal tour around the House and pleasure gardens using only torches to guide your path. Listen to the spooky stories of
Hylands and warm up with a hot chocolate. We can not guarantee you will see or hear something but be afraid; be very afraid – this event is not for the faint hearted!

Designs are simple and chic and the tutor will offer individual advice on how to compliment the bridal dress, colour schemes and seasonality of flowers. You will learn how to make a range of wedding and bridal flowers including a Bridal bouquet,
buttonholes, table flowers and large floral arrangements

16 & 23 FebruaryDates & Times: Sunday, 16 February 2014 - 10:00am
This course is aimed at those who have already attended one of our experienced tutor Toni Peers’ Enamelling classes. The aim of today is to work on one larger enamelled piece. You will design a scene or picture and then plan how to achieve it
through a variety of enamelling processes (fusing glass to copper), such as wet-packing, applying wire, using hard and soft enamels etc.
Students will make one tiled painting during this class.

A new class for 2014 etching and embellishing glassware.
During this workshop you will learn how to apply a resist and use etching and embellishing materials to produce your own unique glassware. This wonderful technique can be used to transform
mirrors and glassware throughout the home.

Discover useful techniques to help you create the look that is everywhere in the high street – never need to buy this sort of thing again, just reinvent items you already have! Learn about which paints to use for different projects, about surface preparation and finishing techniques.

A sell-out in it's first year, 'Dragon Hunt' returns for 2014!
Join us to celebrate St. George’s day and hunt down our enormous 10ft high, stunning animatronic dragon. The dragon was made at Elstree Studios, from the makers of ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’. A film quality production, the dragon has animatronic moving wings, blinking eyes and smoke bellowing from its nostrils. You could even have a go at building your own shield to help defend yourself from the fiery beast, but don’t let the silly Fool pinch it before you find the dragon!Dates & Times: Sunday, 20 April 2014 - 10:00am
Find out how Hylands’ different owners have made their mark on the gardens and surrounding parkland. We will start with a tea/coffee and a short talk in Hylands House itself before going outside to enjoy the gardens at this lovely time of year.

The Tuesday Toddle sessions are run approximately every month throughout the year, with a break during the school summer holiday period. The Toddles are an opportunity for parents with pre-school children to enjoy a guided walk in the park and garden areas surrounding Hylands House along with other parents with children of a similar age. The routes chosen for the walk on the whole take into account those with pushchairs although a short detour maybe necessary from time to time to avoid steps etc. Maximum of three children per adult.

Come and experience the magic and tranquillity of a woodland setting with one of our rare breed horses. The day will include a logging demonstration in the woods then having a go at it yourselves. You will experience what a horse loggers day in the woods involves including tea breaks and lunch in the great outdoors. Meet at
