Heavy Horse Experience for Children

This exciting session is run by Claudia Waller, a Partner of Hawthorn Heavy Horses based at Hylands park, who specialises in the use of working horses for forestry and conservation work. Claudia has a BSc in Equine Studies and 12 years experience of working Heavy Horses.

Harold Huxley & the Flying Dragon: Book Signing and Storytelling


On Thursday 28 May during the half term holiday, Emma McNalley will be visiting Hylands to tell the wonderful story of Harold Huxley & the Flying Dragon. She created Harold Huxley in 2013 based on a story she wrote when she was a small girl and had the idea of a househog when she bought a hedgehog door stop a couple of years ago!

All About Dogs

Robin Hood

Robin Hood Family Theatre Show at Hylands Estate

Cambridge Touring Theatre once again enchants audiences at Hylands with this wonderful adaptation of Robin Hood. The Guardian says 'has families rolling around their picnic mats with laughter'. Full of music, song and plenty of high jinks not to be missed. Bring along your own picnic for a great family afternoon out.

Horse Logging Experience Day

Come and experience the magic and tranquillity of a woodland setting with one of our rare breed horses. The day will include a logging demonstration in the woods then having a go at it yourselves. You will experience what a horse loggers day in the woods involves including tea breaks and lunch in the great outdoors. Meet at the Stables Visitor Centre.

Copper Clay

Working with pure copper clay you will learn how to manipulate and form the clay. Create different designs and textures to make unique pieces of jewellery. You will see how the copper is fired in the kiln and learn the polishing techniques used to finish your pieces. This workshop allows you to make either one large piece or a number of smaller pieces.

This workshop is suitable for beginners or intermediate crafters.

£55, including all materials and tools.
