Changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age

This training event is designed to allow primary history co-ordinators and classroom teachers the opportunity to develop their teaching of early British history through an exciting mix of theory and hands-on practical activities.

 

Together, Essex County Council and Chelmsford Museum have designed a training event that will explore changes in National Curriculum content and contribute to pupils' understanding of the 'long arc of development' in their local area and other parts of Britain.

Primary Science Teacher Forum

A free networking opportunity for primary science subject leaders and teachers, at Sandford Mill Science Education Centre in Chelmsford.

 

A chance to exchange ideas, planning and resources about the new curriculum with other primary teachers and Sandford Mill’s resident science specialists.

HIstory Teacher Forum

All Essex teachers with an interest in teaching history in Essex primary or secondary schools are invited to join this informal teacher forum meeting 3 to 4 times a year at Chelmsford Museum.

 

The aim is to support each other as new history curriculum changes take effect, working in partnership to help schools make the most of local heritage and cultural sites. It is a great place to chat, share ideas and resources, and get help with any areas you want support including - sharing planning ideas and resources.

Glass Jewellery

This one-day jewellery workshop gives you the opportunity to explore the various techniques and materials used to produce stunning glass jewellery. Resident glass artist, Mona Marnell, will
take you through the designing, making and finishing process. The day will also include an understanding of working with kiln-fired glass. You will use the materials provided to create glimmering silver and glass drop earrings. Once fired your pieces will be ready for collection
from the studio to keep or give away.

City Centred trail

The City Centred quiz trail costs 50p to enter and runs for the first three weeks of the summer holiday.  Just pick up a trail sheet at reception, find the answers to the clues in the exhibition and around the museum then post your entry in the box for a chance to win.  No need to book, just turn up and have a go.

 

The first correct entry drawn out of the box will win a Chelmsford City teddy, a limited edition Chelmsford 800 coin (commemorating 800 years as a town since 1199) and other Chelmsford goodies.
